A personal journal of an IT Operations Manager (nope, not BOFH, much nicer).
I provide platforms for software engineers to deliver value for our employer. Therefore, I deliver value. I also provide support for software engineers to do this quickly, safely and in a way they are comfortable with. Yes. I 'do' DevOps.
Despite my career of supporting developers and providing platforms that sit 'under dev', I am always 'under dev' myself.
I've been managing teams on and off for 15 years now and find myself 'managing' other technical managers for the last 5. It's a new career really. I am not a 'senior' engineer that also leads people. I have become just a manager with a degree of technical experience. This is a personal challenge and something I feel I should write about, just as many others in the Tech industry are waking up to the reality of their work lives.
Anyway. I aim to start building out my thoughts here on this crappy Blogger platform to start with. I'll move it to something better when I have some more entries.
